The Nursery - James Street Preschool and Junior School, Redcliffs, Christchurch

The programme for each age group is displayed in the children's dining area at the Preschool and the play areas in the Nursery and Junior School. The programme is based on the Early Childhood Curriculum - Te Whariki and reflects the holistic way children learn and the way in which children form relationships with those around them and with their environment.

7.30	Preschool opens; Choice of quiet indoor experiences
8.30	Choice of inside/outside experiences
9.20	Story time is used to transition into a group morning tea
9.30	Morning tea
9.45	Children will have the opportunity to choose from a range of inside/outside experiences; but at some stage focus, music, sensory and art experiences will be included
11.20	Story time is used as a transition into a group lunc
11.30	Lunch
12.00	Children will be offered a range of inside/outside experiences. Opportunity for sleep
2.20	Story time is used as a transition into a group afternoon tea
2.30	Afternoon tea.
2.45	Children will have the opportunity to choose from a range of inside and outside experiences; and at some stage focus, music, sensory and art experiences will be included
4.30	Transition into a small group late snack; followed by a range of quiet experiences
5.30	Preschool Closes.
Children's individual needs and routines (i.e. opportunity for sleep, bottle feeding and changing) will be incorporated within the programme. Older children will have the opportunity to transition to Junior School throughout the day. Menu
