Meals

At both pre-schools we provide children with lunches, morning and afternoon teas and late snacks. These are good nutritious foods, eg: muffins, pikelets, toasties or scones, fruit and milk. We also like children to bring along a piece of fruit each day to share for morning tea and afternoon tea.

Lunches for Pre-school and Junior School

The James St Preschool promotes healthy eating and has obtained the Healthy Heart Award.
A cook / cleaner is employed daily so the teaching staff are left free to work with your child.

Lunches for Nursery

We provide the babies with pureed vegetables and fruit for lunch and nutritious snacks at other times of the day.

If your child has any special dietary requirements please mention this to Tonia. We find we can accommodate most children’s special dietary needs but if your baby is on formula milk this must be provided by the parent.

Healthy Heart Award

The James St Preschool and Junior School was the first Christchurch preschool to be awarded the prestigious Heart Foundation Healthy Heart Award.

This award reflects the commitment we have made to ensuring that the children’s menu is not only enjoyable, but also well balanced nutritionally.

The Heart Foundation spent several months working with the preschool as well as reviewing our menus and also the physical activity aspects of the learning programme.
