Enrolling

Enrolment process

Complete the enrolment form in your prospectus pack and return it to Tonia. She will discuss with you the availability of the hours that you require and answer any other questions you may have. If the hours you require are not available you will be placed on a waiting list and informed of approximately how long it will be before a space becomes available.

Settling children in

Young children can sometimes find it difficult to settle into new and unfamiliar environments. This can be very distressing to the parent involved. By following these guidelines you can reduce the stress and time involved in the settling process.

  • Visit as often as possible before your child is expected to attend and get to know your child's teacher.
  • Talk to your child's teacher about their needs and discuss any concerns you may have.
  • Bring any special toys or cuddlies that might help your child to settle.
  • Say good-bye once and then leave. Frequent coming and going is unsettling for children.

Roll book

It is essential for parents/caregivers to sign the roll book and record the time that they drop their child/ren off and pick them up again. This is to confirm their child/ren have attended that day and to charge accordingly. Most importantly, the rolls are used in the event of an emergency.

What if I have questions?

The preschools provide an induction process for each new family on beginning attendance. Hopefully, many of your questions will be answered through this time. However, you are welcome to talk with any staff member at any time.

If you have any questions about the programme or specific questions about your child, you are welcome to talk with your child's teacher, any of the teaching staff or the supervisor.

If you have specific questions regarding policies, management decisions, fees or WINZ subsidies, please see Tonia.

You can also check our FAQ (frequently asked questions) page.

Visit our pre-schools

The preschools operate an open-door policy. This means you can come to the preschools at any time or spend time with your child. Extended family are also welcome to visit the preschools.

The James Street Pre-school and Junior School are fully government licensed.
