FAQs - frequently asked questions

1. Activities and Recreation

Daily programme
The programme for each age group is displayed in the children's dining area at the Preschool and the play areas in the Nursery and Junior School. The programme is based on the Early Childhood Curriculum - Te Whariki and reflects the holistic way children learn and the way in which children form relationships with those around them and with their environment.

Birthdays
Birthday celebrations are enjoyed by the children and staff. Parents are welcome to provide special treats for their celebration at morning or afternoon tea. However we do ask parents to consider the Healthy Food and Nutrition Guidelines if providing treats for the children to share. Parents are most welcome to join us or leave cameras for us to record the celebrations.

Sleeping and rest times
Babies individual sleeping patterns are retained. They sleep in cots with their own individualised bedding. The older children who have sleeps have their rest time after lunch on mattresses with individualised linen, however, they are able to have a sleep at any time of the day, whenever needed. All linen will be supplied by the preschools.

Outings
All children will get the opportunity to go on walks/outings to make their time at pre-school more varied and exciting. The children will often have trips to places of interest that they are learning about at the time. Notices of outings are given to parents in advance explaining transport, staff attending and any cost. Signing consent on the enrolment form applies only for walks. Staff ratio for walks/outings is 1 adult to 4 children. Parent help is always welcome and appreciated on outings or trips away.
