The James St Preschool and Junior School is independently owned by Murray and Tonia Salt. They have four children: Taygen (eight), Kynan (six), Rheon (three) and Aneira (one).

Together they have more than 30 years experience in education.

Tonia has worked in preschools for the past 17 years, 14 of these at the James St Preschool. In 1995 Tonia was appointed to the position of Supervisor and in 2002 took ownership of the preschool and has remained in a supervisory role ever since, preferring to be accessible to all parents on a daily basis.

In 2002 Tonia also completed her Diploma of Teaching (Early Childhood Education) with high merit. Tonia enjoys spending time with her family, travel and chocolate.

Murray has worked for the past 12 years in the area of Secondary Education, teaching Science and Electronics.

Murray has also taken on many roles within middle management during his time as a teacher. He has a Bachelor of Science degree with Honours and a Diploma of Teaching.

Murray has recently left Secondary Teaching to focus solely on the administration of the James St Preschool.

Murray enjoys mountain biking, fish keeping and reading.
